Cassadee Pope, First Female Winner on “The Voice”

December 18, 2012 | 0

CassadeeCassadee Pope was declared the winner of Season Three on “The Voice,” last night, beating out male competitors Nicholas David and Terry McDermott.┬áThis marks the first time a female has won the singing competition.

Before auditioning for “The Voice” Pope was already a seasoned music veteran. The 23-year-old singer from West Palm Beach, Florida, founded the pop-punk band Hey Monday, which put out several albums (two on Columbia) and toured with Fall Out Boy and on Warped Tour before disbanding at the end of 2011. Pope released a solo album in 2012 before auditioning for “The Voice.”

Pope’s win was not surprising. She scored three number one hits on iTunes during the show’s season – the most of any contestant. As the winner and top contestant on team Blake (which, coincidentally, is her middle name and the name of another of her former bands), she will get a(nother) record deal with Universal Republic. Her next solo album is anticipated to be released in early 2013.
